Why All This Push To Get So Much Water In Leander?

The Austin American Statesman announced on July 12:  Leander Mayor John Cowman has teamed with John Lewis, a longtime Central Texas land developer, on an $11.5 million land investment in Leander’s ETJ.  They envision a high end residential development.

Crystal Falls developer, Bill Hinckley, wanted the land, but offered less than Cowan.  He thought it might take years to get public utilities to the land.

No problem now!  This stinks.

Note: Leander recently jumped from using 3,200 AFY to reserving 24,000 AFY (The city will pay a ½ price reservation fee on the unused water.)

Note: Leander is the major contributor to the proposed deep water intake in Volente because they will take more water from the intake than Cedar Park and Round Rock.
