Taxpayers Get Stuck
With The Tab
Why should Williamson County taxpayers
get stuck with the tab for a $330 million infrastructure
to pump water from Lake Travis? Private enterprise
should support our economy not your tax dollars.
Private companies are willing to foot
the bill for the infrastructure needed to get the Simsboro
or Carrizo-Wilcox Aquifer water to Round Rock, Cedar Park
and Leander. And they are
ready to lock in to a set cost. With upgrades
and expansion to existing Lake water intake facilities, the
current infrastructure and land easements could be used in
conjunction with aquifer water to provide the same level
of water. Private companies are ready to provide the
infrastructure for the aquifer which means no risk of cost
over-runs and unanticipated expenses. Taxpayers should
not be forced to pay $330 million for infrastructure
unnecessary to provide for Williamson Counties water needs. And
Lake Travis shouldn’t be drained because decision makers
were mis-guided by project managers.
